St Patrick’s Week is nearly back at Nortons and as always, it’s the biggest stretch of the year for us.
From Wednesday 11th through to Wednesday 18th March, the bar shifts up a gear. Live music, packed rooms, long days that turn into longer nights, and that familiar sea of green across the entire place. If you’ve been before, you know what this week feels like. If you haven’t, this is your year.
We open on Wednesday 11th March with An Evening with Carl Chinn – Making Our Mark. Carl will be exploring the impact of the Irish community in Victorian Birmingham, and it’s a fitting way to start the week. We’ve added an extra 25 tickets after the first allocation went quickly, and they won’t hang around for long. If you’re planning on being there, get that booked.
Parade Day lands on Sunday 15th March and it’s the one that always fills first. All Folk’d Up headline, with LAMPA, The Father Teds and a full bill running across the day. It’s fourteen hours of live music and a pub at full tilt from early doors through to close. If you’re circling one date in the diary, this is it. Tickets are moving and we’d strongly recommend sorting yours sooner rather than later.
St Patrick’s Day itself falls on Tuesday 17th March and entry is free. We’ll begin with Mass earlier in the day, then roll into live music from The Father Teds, Heed and Jack Banting. No ticket needed, just turn up and be part of it.
We close the week on Wednesday 18th March with Barry Kerr. Fresh from his Folk Album of the Year nomination for Curlew’s Cry, Barry brings something a little more intimate to the main stage. A proper listening night to round things off, and a special way to bring the week to a close.
Across the week there’ll be sessions, familiar faces, late finishes and the craic. If you’re planning to join us for any of it, now’s the time to get organised. Tickets for the key events are live at nortons.bar and Parade Day in particular won’t hang about.
