Over the years at Nortons we’ve put on all sorts – loud nights, late nights, all-dayers and everything in between. But we’ve wanted to carve out a bit of space for something slightly different too. That’s where Folk at Nortons comes in.
It’s not about reinventing the wheel. It’s about good folk and trad music, played properly, in a pub that knows how to listen as well as sing along. Intimate nights, great musicians right in front of you, and a lovely atmosphere.
We’re kicking things off with two shows that feel spot on for launching it.
The first is Seán Magee, playing Friday 20th February 2026. Seán’s been immersed in traditional Irish music from a very young age, learning fiddle under Pat McManus and gigging around pubs almost as soon as he could hold the instrument. He went on to win the All-Ireland Fleadh as a teenager and has since toured widely across Ireland, the UK, Europe and the US. His sets are full of life – proper trad at heart, but delivered with energy and warmth that really works in a room like ours. It feels like the perfect way to open Folk at Nortons.
Then on Wednesday 18th March 2026, we’ve got Barry Kerr joining us. Barry’s stopping off at Nortons as part of a short run of English dates, following his latest album Curlew’s Cry being shortlisted for Folk Album of the Year. His work is thoughtful and beautifully put together – songs shaped by Irish life, landscape and memory, written by someone who’s been doing this a long time and doing it properly. This is exactly the sort of gig that suits an attentive crowd, a good pint and a bit of space to listen.
Both nights are very much about connection – between the music, the room and the people in it. No big production, no distractions, just two cracking artists and a pub that’s ready to host them.
Tickets for both shows are on sale now. If Folk at Nortons sounds like your kind of thing, we’d love to have you in the room for the first two.
We can’t wait for these.
