The Whileaways

November 14 @ 8:00 pm - 11:30 pm
£7.5

Multi-folk award nominees The Whileaways have ingeniously solved the age-old dilemma of having three lead singers by becoming, essentially, one breathtaking, powerhouse voice. A masterclass in perfected simplicity, the trio weaves sublime, goosebump-inducing harmonies through songs mined straight from lived experience, heart, and soul. Packed with rich themes of family, love, and a deep sense of place, their music hollers to be experienced live in all its vibrant, glorious detail.

Bringing together three powerhouse talents—Noelie McDonnell, Noriana Kennedy, and Nicola Joyce—The Whileaways were each established virtuosos with extensive international touring credentials before uniting. What began as mutual admiration during late-night song sessions in their hometown of Galway quickly ignited into an incredible musical partnership, melding a dozen collective albums and global mainstage experience into one legendary sound.

Since joining forces in 2012, this unstoppable songwriting trio has unleashed four critically acclaimed albums. Renowned for spellbinding, high-energy live performances that regularly draw passionate, sold-out crowds, their shows are a complete celebration of song. Even during lockdown, their weekly ‘Live from Home’ Sunday sessions brought together a massive, devoted global audience, proving just how deeply their music connects people across the world.

Described by Hot Press as being “among the finest singers in the country,” The Whileaways have earned sweeping praise across the globe. Irish Music Magazine hails their work as “profound and insightful, tightly woven, experimental, fresh and energetic.” In a testament to their incredible versatility and prestige, 2019 saw three of their signature tracks orchestrally scored and recorded with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

Whether delivering their own soaring original material or commanding the stage for their much-lauded show ‘Bird On The Wire’—a sensational ten-piece collaboration with Pauline Scanlon celebrating Leonard Cohen—The Whileaways are absolute masters of the stage. Their grander productions have packed out iconic venues like the Ulster Hall, The Olympia Theatre, and the Cork Opera House to rapturous applause. Joined by maestros Eimhin Cradock on drums and Sam Finlay on bass, the band’s beautifully crafted arrangements and infectious stage presence create an unforgettable live atmosphere.

Blending genuine craic, intimate conversation, and pure musical magic, a night with The Whileaways is guaranteed to raise the roof and leave you wanting more.
