He also reaches back further to key historic events and movements that frame the ideas of goth\, from the fall of Rome to Lord Byron and the romantic poets\, European folk tales\, Gothic art and the occult. DESCRIPTION:Kíla\n\n\n\nOften defined as contemporary Irish World music\, Kíla fuse the effects of their own melodies and Irish (Gaeilge) lyrics\, Irish folk instruments such as whistles\, fiddles\, Uilleann pipes\, bones and bodhrán with djembe\, congas\, drums\, mandolins\, brass\, and acoustic/electric/ bass guitars. Kíla’s eight members come from the differing musical backgrounds of traditional\, classical\, and rock.  \n\n\n\nFormed at school in Dublin’s late 1980’s\, Award-winning band\, Kíla\, are heralded as one of Ireland’s most innovative and exciting bands. Their unique sound has been ever-evolving\, rooted in tradition\, yet inspired by a myriad of influences and ideas from all around the world. \n\n\n\nThe result is a fresh blend of freewheeling instrumentals\, furious jigs\, and primal rhythms that transcend the traditional boundaries of Irish music.  \n\n\n\nKíla have worked extensively in TV and film. In 2020 they won the IFTA for Best Original Score for the soundtrack or Arracht (TG4). Their most notable collaborations have been with French composer Bruno Coulais on the soundtracks for Cartoon Saloon’s three Oscar-nominated animated films The Secret of Kells (2010)\, Song of the Sea (2014)\, and most recently for Wolfwalkers (2020).

The band has been together since 2012\, but their individual musical journeys have been much longer. Singing in pubs since he was old enough to hold a pint glass\, Mick has gone on to become one of the most sought after vocalists in Ireland. Martin and Mikey are both seasoned veterans of traditional music festivals in Britain\, while Seán is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist who has toured all over Europe. The service will be lead by FR Gerard Kelly (St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church\, Handsworth) and will feature Our Lady’s School Choir. \n\n\n\nOur Lady’s School Choir are a 30 strong school choir from Our Lady’s School\, lead by Niamh McCorriston of one of our favourite bands\, Heed. \n\n\n\nThis is a genuine chance to reflect on the true meaning of St Patrick’s Day\, and is serious service\, with Holy Communion or a blessing for those who wish to receive it. \n\n\n\nOur bars will then open from midday when the mass is expected to finish\, and the Choir will take a short break before kickstarting the days celebrations with a selection of popular Irish tunes!

After a huge Norotns Debut in 2022\, we’re delighted to have All Folk’d Up back as part of our biggest ever St Patrick’s Day line-up! \n\n\n\nThe Father Teds: The Father Teds are a five-piece contemporary Irish band much admired for their world-class musicianship and their ability to put on a great show with their up tempo arrangements of traditional and more modern songs! \n\n\n\nLampa: A young Birmingham Irish band\, keeping it within the Irish Tradition\, incorporating a mix of genres to deliver a dynamic and energetic performance! \n\n\n\nHeed: Nortons regulars\, two sisters from Birmingham that form the duo Heed. Playing a variety of genres from Irish trad\, to contemporary covers and pub classics! \n\n\n\nRovin’ Out: A 5 piece variation with some of the lads from The Rapparees (Fairytale of the Pogues) and just as “irresistibly rough-arsed” (Hot Press magazine) \n\n\n\nMatt and Donal: The fantastic duo from Manchester (no one’s perfect)\, you’ll know them from Craic by the Creek – and providing the craic is exactly what they’ll be doing! \n\n\n\nDJ Kieran Corcoran: Our go-to man for those Irish party anthems\, a bit of cheese and a little disco. \n\n\n\nTickets are 21+ – Event is sold out online.
