The real deal. What a voice.” \n\n\n\nMark Radcliffe\, BBC Radio 2 Folk Show \n\n\n\n‘Daoirí played for ninety minutes. Watching\, caught in the enthralling flow of the music\, it felt like twenty.’ Live review by From the Margins \n\n\n\n‘What makes this trio exceptionally good\, however\, is the striking voice of singer-bouzouki \n\n\n\nplayer Farrell. A great voice that is perfect for traditional Irish work. The Blue Tar Road \, A \n\n\n\nPint Of Plain and the instrumental Rakish Paddy\, we’ve heard them before\, but rarely so inspired and impressive.’ \n\n\n\nFolk Forum NL \n\n\n\nDublin-born traditional singer and bouzouki player Daoirí (pronounced ‘Derry’) Farrell has \n\n\n\nbeen described by some of the biggest names in Irish folk music as one of most important \n\n\n\nsingers to come out of Ireland in recent years. \n\n\n\nDaoirí received three nominations in the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards 2019 for best singer\, \n\n\n\nbest traditional track and best album for ‘A Lifetime Of Happiness’. \n\n\n\nWithin days of lockdown\, Daoirí began livestreaming. The first concert resulted in 49\,000 \n\n\n\nviews. Daoirí performed a further 24 ‘Corner Sessions’ weekly at 10pm GMT every Sunday. \n\n\n\nAs a result\, he has played live on BBC Radio’s The Today Programme (May ’20)\, \n\n\n\nbroadcast to over 7m people a week\, and became the second artist ever to take “remote \n\n\n\ncontrol” of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe (June ’20). \n\n\n\nHis fourth studio album recorded with Trevor Hutchinson from The Waterboys\, ‘The \n\n\n\nWedding Above In Glencree’ was released in February 2023. \n\n\n\nMark Redmond – uilleann pipes \n\n\n\nMark Redmond from County Wexford has performed as soloist at many significant events including with the RTE Concert Orchestra; RTE National Symphony Orchestra (including a performance of the Brendan Voyage in the NCH\, Dublin and in 2017 as soloist on the occasion of the state visit of Queen Elisabeth II to Ireland\, 2011)\, Camerata Ireland under \n\n\n\nthe direction of pianist Barry Douglas for the premiere of Ólagan commemorating 1916\, in \n\n\n\nthe Kennedy Centre for Performing Arts in Washington\, with The Savannah Philharmonic\, \n\n\n\nGeorgia\, USA\, with the Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne in Rennes in France\, and at \n\n\n\nthe Eucharistic Congress in 2012 when Mark played solo during the closing ceremony at \n\n\n\nCroke Park in front of over 80\,000 people and a worldwide live television audience. \n\n\n\nAs well as being a member of the Daoirí Farrell Trio\, Mark has also performed live with Glen \n\n\n\nHansard\, Declan O’Rourke\, Jack L\, Westlife and has toured globally with Riverdance\, Celtic \n\n\n\nLegends\, and more. \n\n\n\nRobbie Walsh – Bodhrán \n\n\n\nRobbie Walsh is a bodhrán player and proud Dubliner raised with a strong musical \n\n\n\nbackground in many genres\, his style is the definition of diversity. Inspired by the fantastic \n\n\n\nplaying of his uncle\, Robbie began to learn ‘the ropes’ from the great Noel Dowling of \n\n\n\nKilkenny. In 2008 he won the Dublin and the Leinster Bodhrán Championships; moving on to \n\n\n\nwin the Senior All Ireland title one month later at Fleadh Ceoil na hÉireann in Tullamore.
